US should forget Dr Afridi: DG ISI
Pakistan’s spy chief Lieutenant-General Zahir ul-Islam Friday rejected any option regarding the exchange of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani woman detained in US for having ties with al-Qaeda, against Dr Shakil Afridi, a CIA spy who helped tracing Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden in Abbotabad.
Talking to journalists, the intelligence head said that Shakil Afridi would not be handed over to United States.
“US should forget the matter of Dr Afridi,” he said adding that the US should not talk on Afridi’s matter for at least 10 years.
On his recent visit to US, the spy chief said that his meeting with his US counterpart was a successful one and both the agencies have stressed on exchanging secret details.
In addition, Islam rejected the claims made by Afghan intelligence for the killing of Badruddin Haqqani, son of Haqqani Network’s chief Sirajuddin Haqqani, and said that he was still alive.
